"When Wild Spirits Meet"
There is a moment, brief and rare, when the eyes of a wild creature meet your own, and something in you recognizes something in them. Not fear. Not distance. Recognition.
This piece began with that moment. Every hair, every shift of light across the wolf’s coat, was built in service of the eyes, because the eyes are where the piece lives. They hold the quiet, ancient knowing of an animal who has never needed to explain herself, and the unmistakable sense that she is not simply being observed. She is observing back.
This is a portrait of connection, the wild spirit in her, meeting the wild spirit still living in us, however quietly, however far from the forest we’ve wandered. It asks only one thing of the viewer: to stop, and to be seen.
