In the stillness of dawn, as the first light brushes the savannah with gold, he stands, majestic and motionless, gazing toward the horizon.
There is a stillness in him that bypasses the mind entirely and lands somewhere deeper — somewhere in the heart.
I spent hours working on this face. Every strand of his mane, every shadow gathering around that eye, the quiet authority in the set of his jaw. Somewhere in that process he stopped being a subject and became a presence. I wasn't drawing a lion anymore. I was sitting with something ancient and unhurried, something that has never once doubted its place in the world.
Sovereign was made for the people who have stood near something truly wild and felt, just for a moment, that they have never quite belonged entirely to the tame world.
