"Monday Morning"
He’s not going anywhere just yet, and he’s perfectly fine with that.
The expression is unmistakable, not distress, not sadness, just a completely honest reluctance to begin. He has claimed his log, and that’s about as far as today is going to go.
There’s something deeply relatable about a creature this young who has already figured out that some mornings simply require a moment. Or several.
Monday Morning captures the quality that makes young wildlife so disarming: the total absence of pretense. What you see is exactly what he is. And what he is, at this particular moment, is done before he’s started.
Wherever he hangs, he will start conversations and stop people in their tracks. And on the mornings when you’re not quite ready either, when the coffee hasn’t kicked in and the day is asking too much too soon, he will catch your eye from across the room and you will feel, inexplicably, a little less alone in it.
